Ariana Shoes - The Skin!

It’s time to bore you with a few technical details of how Ariana shoes really work? You can see the shoes’ general structure below, but it would be impossible to show you everything in only one post so today’s topic will be the outer surface of the uppers, where the actual magic happens.

So it can change its appearance, marvelous, but doesn’t that make it more vulnerable to environmental impacts? Let’s take a closer look.

The surface itself doesn’t only contain the changeable layer, it has several others beneath and above it. Some of these are responsible for keeping out the potentially harmful effects of the outside world, such as rain, mud, dust, etc. The top layer is water resistant to protect the shoes form humidity and pollution. It’s completely transparent and flexible, of course, just as the next layer beneath it, which also has a protective function against physical impacts such as bumps, hits and shocks.

Bear in mind however, that it’s not gonna be enough to reduce the damage if a brick falls on your shoes from the third floor, let’s say crossing a construction site. But that’s probably okay, since no other shoes would be able to do that for you. Not to mention that the shoes wouldn’t be the only things severely damaged.

These layers will be there for the subtle impacts that can be expected from everyday usage of your shoes, like accidentally kicking something solid, or throwing them onto a hard surface. In short the shoes made with Ariana technology will be about as sturdy as any other ordinary shoes, not more, not less.

The next layer will be the real deal. The one that actually has the three colors and the infinite possibilities to arrange them, creating unlimited amount of visual appearance. Remember, it’s not a display, it doesn’t glow or have any electronic look or feel to it. It looks just like the surface of a fine pair of leather shoes.

The color changing process consumes almost negligible amount of power, so you don’t have to worry about your shoes’ battery going dead. Between two changes, when the shoes only have to keep their modified look visible the energy consumption is practically zero.

This one is followed by an isolation layer which is also waterproof and keeps the upper layers separated from last one. It’s a comfort layer designed to keep our feet nicely supported and comfortable also to help providing the necessary amount of ventilation.

Ariana Shoes - So what's this all about?

This blog is about Ariana shoes, an exciting and fun invention that will change your approach to one of your most common piece of clothing. I bet you never thought that wearing your shoes can be a real creative experience. Well, soon you can be able to actually change the look of your shoes instantly, whenever you want it, with your smartphone.

The key is the special surface of the shoes' uppers which act as erasable canvases. You can put any kind of patterns, drawings, artworks, even texts onto them, wear them as long as you like, then erase the whole thing with a touch of a button and start over again. The only limitation is the number of colors you can use. You can have three: black, white and you are free to choose the third one. It can be red, blue, green, orange, you name it.

If you buy a pair of red Arianas for example you can mix black, white and red any way you like to create your patterns, drawings, etc. and of course, you can always use the three colors on their own. It means you can have a nice, clean, white pair of shoes in one moment and then you can turn them completely black in the next, then pure red.

And no, they won't have any artificial or techy look to them. You won't be able to tell the difference between an ordinary pair of shoes and a pair of Arianas by looking at them.

And it's not going to be for women only. On the contrary, there's going to be Ariana shoes for everyone: men, women, kids, in all kinds of shapes and sizes. It's merely a technology that can be used to produce any kind conventional shoes: pumps, high heels, flats, sneakers, etc.

So we hope the basics are clear now, if you want to know more about Ariana shoes, visit the project's page on Indiegogo and if you like it, support us to make it happen as soon as possible.

In the meantime it will be worth following this blog where we going to provide more background information on this special little step in footwear evolution :-)
Enjoy!
